Russia started European Championship with difficult win over Ukraine

After five sets on the court Russian team, led by our members Yana Scherban, Nataliya Goncharova, Tatiana Kosheleva, Irina Zaryazhko Koroleva, and Irina Filishtinskaya, defeated Ukraine, of Iryna Trushkina, Victoriya Delros and Nadiia Kodola.

Russia started their way for a third straight European title in the best way – with a hard-fought 3:2 victory (25:18, 20:25, 25:23, 23:25, 15:13), after 134 minutes of game. The match was played in front of 4,100 fans from Russia, Ukraine and many local ones. Tatiana Kosheleva was the best scorer of Russian team with 20 points, while Nataliya Goncharova made 20 points in five sets. Our member from Ukrainian team Nadiia Kodola was the second best scorer of the match with 23 points.
