Serbia finished the first round in the best possible way

Serbia goes to the quarterfinals of Euro Volley 2017 from the first possition in Pool D, after great games from the beggining of Championship and three victories in a row.

Tonight, Serbia of our players Bojana Zivkovic, Brankica Mihajlovic, Tijana Malesevic and Ana Bjelica, coached by Zoran Terzic, outclased Belgium 3:1 (24:26, 25:20, 25:22) after 129 minutes of game.

Even though Belgium took the 1:0 lead, they didn’t manage to keep up in such a good rhythm. Serbian girls started playing much better, setting the control of the game and the rival had to surrender in another three sets! Brankica Mihajlovic of Serbia: "Belgium are a very good team and never give up. It is always very interesting to play against them. I am happy that we made this group finish in the best possible way. Now we have some days off with no games and we expect another tough match in the quarter-finals and although we do not know who we are going to play, all our thoughts and focus are now on that." Serbian girls will play in Baku in the quarter-finals of the European Championship on Thursday, September 28 against the Belarus-Czech Republic winner. All four teams from Ganja will travel to Baku tomorrow. Serbia, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic will continue the competition in the National Gymnasium in Baku, while Belgium has finished the European Championship.
